Six Benefits for You to Write Articles

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

Article writing positions you as an expert – writing an feature or news article on a regular basis means you know what you’re
talking about, and you’ve done your research. This is your opportunity to showcase what you know and benefit in several
different ways. Here’s six different benefits from writing short articles.

For example, your articles can be free advertising – not only do you get posted on the article distribution sites you submit to, but as your free articles get picked up, the resulting traffic is exponential. Exposure on other websites and blogs can be lucrative. If your website has just been activated, this can help boost the number of unique visitors right away.

Writing articles can generate lots of links – other webmasters will publish your article on their website and/or blog. By keeping the hyperlinks intact, you get valuable backlinks that in context to your own site or blog. It’s possible to have hundreds of quality links to your site within a short amount of time, for very little effort on your part. If your site is selling products or services, you’ve just increased sales possibilities.

Your articles end up on other websites – depending upon what you write about, your articles could show up on hundreds of sites for months. An article I wrote last year at this time is still being published by webmasters and ezine editors today. Not only will you get published online, but off line publications, such as traditional newsletters and magazines are also looking to publish your content.

I mentioned being put into ezines – this is tremendously valuable, since your article is now being read by hundreds, if not thousands of pre-sold, targeted visitors who are already interested in your product or service. A certain percentage will follow up on your article by visiting your website and exploring it.

Writing articles can lead to possible joint ventures or partnerships – once you’ve established yourself as an expert, this creates the opening or possibility of business entrepeneurs contacting you for joint venture opportunities. I’ve had manufacturers send me free samples of new products they’re getting ready to market. They’ve asked me to test or use the product, and provide an endorsement. If you test the product or service, and you genuinely like it, ask for the opportunity to sell it.

When you write and post articles, affiliate marketers can find you – they’re are always on the lookout for interesting, profitable niche markets. Since you’re writing and distributing articles, there’s a good chance they’ll find you. By providing quality content in your articles, they know that you understand your niche, and you’ve made it profitable.

Article content – Be sure that what you write is well-researched and easy to read. To get the maximum benefit from all of your articles, be sure to do your keyword research and weave the keyword phrase, or keyword itself, into your article. Always keep the keyword phrase and placement in proper context to the article subject.

You can use the various keyword tools at your disposal to find alternate and complimentary keywords for your articles. People
enter search keywords constantly to look for high quality information. They’ll find your articles in organic search results.

So, if you’ve not yet taken advantage of writing articles, develop a series of subjects right now. If you can’t write an article off the top of your head, do your research and write the article. There are hundreds of quality article submission and distribution sites. Be sure they accept articles on your subject. Some sites specialize in niche markets, such as technology or marketing.

I love writing a series of articles and posting them once a week when I’ve started a new website. This assures me of getting unique visitors quickly, without spending money – just a little bit of my time.

Happy writing!

A Tale of the First Ski Breaks to Chamonix

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

Back in 1770 the 1st lodge was opened in Chamonix. Before this date Chamonix France was a wild and tough farming hamlet where the populace caught their own animals and farmed their cereals.

Farms back then were used to farm dairy herds during the spring and summer. Milk was preserved by making it into different types of cheese and kept in the valley for consumption over the long winter times. In the winter the farms were fastened, and all valued possessions were locked in a liitle shed.

The person who devised chalet holidays is nameless, it was in all probability a few zealous folk who recognized a formula which was novel. With Erna Low it started whilst she was a unhappy student and couldn’t see her parents back home as frequently as she wished. And so in 1931 she took a gamble and took out a ad in the papers to ask guests on a skiing holiday. The cost was £15 and they journeyed to and from the resort, were provided with dinner and accommodation in the solitary hotel, and paid for ski hire and tuition. The vacation was difficult work, there were no ski lifts, no quick release fixings, merely leather boots, but it was so successful that Erna kept on taking skiers on breaks, making sure she employed fantastic lodges and instructors.

Ski vacations in the early years were a far cry from the standards we can receive now. In the early days hot water was in short supply, washrooms were shared out with all of the customers, and there wasn’t a chef; all the punters were expected to help out with the chores. No one knew who might be in the accommodation for the trip, one could be surprised by meeting new allies, or spend a week of hell with people you didn’t get on with.

Catered chalet holidays were later marketed on its additional benefits. Your own cook, who served you breakfast and an evening meal and even made you cakes, numerous bathrooms hot water for washing.

Cracking Passwords

Cracking Passwords

————
Cracking Passwords is one of the key components in
performing a security assessment is the acquisition of user
account information and cracking of the account password.
There are many methods and tools that can be used to crack
passwords, however, you must first retrieve the information
to crack. And once again, there are many ways of acquiring
the account information. This article will illustrate one
method of acquiring user account information using a
combination of social engineering and open source tools. We
will then briefly go over a particular cracking method and
tool.

Handing Over The Keys To The Kingdom

————
On one particular occasion, we were instructed by a client
to do what ever it took, within legal means, to walk out of
their building with the network user account information. We
were introduced to one of the Sr. Engineering staff as a
consultant working on a new Anti-Virus solution. We asked
the Engineer to show us around the server room and he
happily did so. While we were talking, we asked him if he
would mind if we ran a specialized virus checker on one of
the Windows domain controllers, and he readily provided us
with console access. The disk we were using was labeled to
look like it contained anti-virus tools. In reality, it
contained a modified version of a program called “pwdump”.
The moment we ran the script, a bunch of information came up
that indicated that their systems memory was clear of any
known virus. What was really happening was all domain
account information and the corresponding password hashes
were being dumped to a file on the disk. We rapped up our
tour and walked out of the building with everything we
needed.

Windows Password Cracking

————
When we returned to our office, we imported all the user
account information in a distributed password cracking
system (Multiple servers performing password cracking at the
same time). Within approximately 30 minutes we had cracked
70% of account passwords. The remaining accounts took
approximately two days.

An example of what this Windows account information looks
like is:

jdoe:1152:A5C67174B2A219D1

The jdoe accounts password is represented by its hashed
equivalent “A5C67174B2A219D1″. This string of number and
letters, when deciphered, is “CrackMe”. You can test this
with the tool I am going to introduce you tool in the next
section of this article. Without going into all the
technical details about how the cracking takes place, this
type of deciphering is basically done by trying to match up
the hashed password over time and a bunch of iterations.
When you take the word “CrackMe”, and hash it, it produces
the string of numbers and letters (A5C67174B2A219D1). So
what you are really doing is matching that string, then
making the assumption that they human readable version is
“CrackMe”.

How To Generate Password Hashes

————
First and foremost I must warn you that the tool I am going
to point you tool is very powerful and could cause you
problems if you are not careful with it. You must agree to
hold me harmless if in fact you decide to download and use
this tool. This tool, called Cain & Abel or
(http://www.oxid.it/projects.html), is the Swiss Army knife
of cracking and does a lot more than just that.

Once it is installed on your system, you can go to the
“Tools” menu and choose “Hash Calculator”. In the “Text to
Hash” box type “CrackMe” without the “”’s and hit calculate.
Look at the Type “LM” and you will see the hash from above
of “:A5C67174B2A219D1″.

This tool as a great password cracking program and we use it
quite regularly. And as I said, it does a lot more than just
cracking so be careful with it.

Conclusion

————
As I stated in the beginning of this article, there are many
ways to obtain account information and many more ways to
decipher it. In this case, we physically walked out of an
office building with everything we needed. Shortly after
cracking all the accounts we were able to use their remote
access system to gain entry into their internal network as
an administrator. There are also ways of capturing user
account information using man-in-the- middle attack
techniques, remote social engineering, and phishing just to
name a few.

The bottom line is, make your passwords complex, and change
them as often as you can

So Many Article Directories, So Little Time

Sunday, March 29th, 2009

Twice today I received invitations from article directory owners to join their new sites. In many ways I am flattered, but in other ways I almost want to mention that they have their work cut out for them. As an author of several hundred articles online [I expect to add between one and two hundred per month for the foreseeable future] I have some recommendations for article directory managers. If you are interested in learning what they are, please read on.

Benchmark Ezine Articles – My primary site for submitting articles is with EzineArticles.com. Why? Volume, service, article penetration, search engine optimization, blog, forum, email updates, site navigation, cutting edge technology, to name some features. This site is one that is highly active where authors know the manager, Christopher Knight, and hear from him regularly. You get the feeling that Ezine Articles is going places…and fast!

Ask Permission First – Some of my articles have appeared elsewhere, without my permission. I guess having over 400 articles online gives me extra special attention, perhaps more than someone who has 40 articles. Still, I must say that one web director who took my articles has apparently given up the practice and without notification to his authors. Let’s just say I won’t waste my time with someone who doesn’t at least care enough to respond to my emails!

Distinguish Yourself From The Pack – Thanks to a new article software program that hit the market over the summer, lots of folks are snapping up this easy to use program and starting their own directories. Competition is a good thing, but a shake out will occur. If you want someone like me to take interest in your site, to direct my clients to you [I have plenty], and keep me interested, your site shouldn’t even look like any of the rest of them. I am not saying you shouldn’t use the new software, but please take it to the next level and make it work to the max.

Build Up Page Rank – Heck, my own site pulls down a page rank of 6. I want you to match my site’s strength or at least come close. Some of the newer sites are not yet ranked and little or nothing has been indexed by Google. BTW, Google is it for me. MSN and Yahoo are alright, but Google rocks. After these three…nada!

Details, Details – The big picture of getting articles out there is great, but I like to see some attention paid to the fine details too. Ezine Articles has not one, but three resource boxes for authors to select from each of which contains information already keyed in by the authors. I know not of one other directory that has even one. Hmmm…

Where Are You Going? – Where is your article directory going? Do you have RSS feeds, submission agreements with other sites, unique features that are regularly being rolled out, etc. A blog where we hear from YOU, the manager, is highly useful.

There are other areas I am sure that I haven’t covered. I am not singling any directory out and I do wish you the best in your endeavor. Perhaps as your site grows I’ll sign up, but for now I am very busy writing articles and submitting to just a few select sites, like Ezine Articles. Thank you for allowing me to vent!

Article Websites for Content

Saturday, March 28th, 2009

Content article websites are a new business and they appear to be all the rage. Although authors must be careful as to which sites they post on, because so many come and go and then your articles are gone off the Internet. What can Article Sites do to compete in the competitive game of Article Content Websites without going out of business until the third month, which is the average. Here are some thoughts on getting your article content site up and running to compete so that you can maybe still be online in say six months and to better than the 82.38% which generally go out of business by then?

One strategy is to chance the font size on your site to capture those people who cannot see very well. I propose that you increase your articles on your site by 2 points to 4 points of font? Why? To allow for more ads and help people with eye problems, those who get all their news online appreciate it and those who sit down at a computer all day will thank you. I realize this is some big lettering, but I think it is a very good idea to make your site different and boost usage, most article websites get very little traffic, it is pathetic really as authors are expecting traffic but no one comes to your website. Just add 1-2 points in the font and see what happens? Try it on a few author articles?

How about an incentive for the 50 articles or more club? Reach 50 original articles and we increase font size. You could also increase the ad sizes an additional font by one point if you are worried about going out of business to fast as most article sites do, because they cannot compete with the bigger sites like EzineArticles.com. So if you increase article font 2 pts, increase ads 1 pts or increase articles by 4 pts and ads by two? Think on it anyway. I bet it helps. The rest of the page can remain the same. After all you have to do something if you are going to compete with the big boys, or you ought to stay on the porch. Think on this.

Short Format Videos Can Be Beneficial when Marketing Your Organisation

Saturday, March 28th, 2009

Nowadays, as oodles companies & moguls are looking towards internet video sites as a fabulous place to post content to grab the attention of their audience, it is fundamental to know the key elements of using web video advertising channels.

Here are a number of important bits & pieces you must understand prior to you beginning to upload corporate videos on online video portals.

All the time try to use promotional videos that supplies value added content to your potential audience – A great deal of business people incorrectly believe you can merely put any sort of advertisement on a video website, but nothing could be further from the truth. All videos should give some useful information to the desired market, or otherwise start topic of debate.

Conduct some sort of market research on the video portals previous to you adding your very 1st video – it is an exceptional suggestion to allot some considerable amount of time typing your market’s important keywords into Yahoo, to realise what competitor promotional videos are at this time available. Then make a note of the profile names of the most important firms in your market. Possibly later on you can become involved in a joint venture or have some kind of association with these users. For online video publishing strategies that meets your companies requirements, take a look at the Vidify website now.

Understand that every video channel has a community built into it – You must respect the other members & it is recommended that you post positive remarks about your competitors’ videos. Primarily you need to be a member of the community, supplying advice, ideas etc. And only then must you judge yourself as being a marketer & start to distribute your very own 1 and goods.

Commit yourself to making quite a few corporate videos – You ought to have a clear strategy for producing and circulating various corporate videos. Otherwise, your video organisation’s page on the video channels will look blank if it only has one single video to watch. Therefore, give time preparing the making of a succession of short promotional videos, rather than only one very long video.

Internet video marketing is one of the most valuable & fastest techniques of advertising at the present time.

Motivation: The Cure for Complacency

Friday, March 27th, 2009

Q. I’ve always tried to work hard enough to provide for my family and be content. The problem is, when I’m content, I get complacent, and everything starts to fall apart. How do I keep going and avoid getting complacent?

A. There’s nothing wrong with feeling content. It’s something that we all strive for in life.

The problem comes, as you have so well stated, when we drift from contentment into complacency. Let me give you an example of the results of complacency, and then how to overcome it.

I recently heard Clay Shiver, former FSU All-American center and former center for the NFL Dallas Cowboys, speak about complacency.

When he got to the NFL, Shiver, who played center, was the only starter on the offense who wasn’t an All-Pro player. The team also had won three out of the last four Super Bowls.

The year he started, the Cowboys posted a record of 6 wins and 10 losses. Shiver said he thought the reason for such a bad season was that the team had gotten complacent, had lost its hunger. He remembered being in the huddle where two All-Pro Super Bowl champions talked about how they couldn’t wait until the season was over so they could go on a fancy trip. They lost the next five games.

That’s the best example of complacency I think I could offer you.

I can sum up the cure in just one word. Ready?

Ants.

That’s right, a-n-t-s, ants. One of the benefits of having kids is you get to watch their favorite videos hundreds of times. In the movie “Bug’s Life” the ants teach us at least five strategies for dealing with complacency.

1. Ants never, ever give up

Put something in front of them, and they will get around it, over it, under it or through it. If one way doesn’t work, they will try another. If that way does not work, they will try still another way. And so on until they find a way around the obstacle.

There’s nothing wrong with feeling content. It’s something that we all strive for in life.

2. Ants are always getting ready for what’s next

They don’t ever rest on their laurels. In the summer, they are thinking about the winter and getting ready for it.

3. Ants are creatively industrious and resourceful

Ants don’t complain about not having the right tools to do what needs to be done. They take what is available right in front of them and find a way to make it work.

4. Ants are always hopeful

In the winter, when they are holed up in their little ant mound, they are using what they stored up all summer and know that as cold as it is, summer is coming, and they are getting ready for it.

5. Ants don’t seem to believe in the concept of enough

They store up all that they can for the winter. You have seen the acronym on restaurant signs AYCE. I used to think that must be some kind of special brand of food. It took me forever to figure out that it stands for All You Can Eat.

Instead of focusing on All You Can Eat, I think we would do better to focus on what the ants do, AYCD, which stands for All You Can Do.

If you constantly follow these five tips, you will consistently beat complacency. Think of it as being content and always hungry to make things better.

Manchester to Get Superfast Fibre Optic Broadband

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

The Manchester City Council has announced that the FTTP network proposed last year is all set for installation towards the end of this month. The installation work will begin from the Oxford Road area in Manchester.

The fibre optic based network is supposed to give businesses and residents, speeds of up to 1000 times faster than their current connectivity. Although, this may be exaggerated as similar networks elsewhere have shown speeds lower than 100Mbps, the upgrade is still quite a significant one considering the poor state of UK’s broadband infrastructure.

Speaking on the positive effect of this initiative on the people, Councillor Neil Swannick, executive member of environment said that it was important for the growth of Manchester’s economy to make high-speed wireless broadband services accessible and affordable to all. He stressed that providing advanced and state-of the-art technology with better services is the main objective of the Next Generation Digital City project, of which the current initiative is a part.

Swannick also accepted the fact that even though this project brings a most advanced broadband technology to the area, the UK still faces a serious competitive threat from its European counterparts. Other European cities such as Amsterdam and Paris already have similar superfast networks for homes and businesses, and the prices there are just a fraction of those in the UK. Thus, it is not only a risky situation for Manchester, but for the entire country, as other countries may start taking away business from the UK.

As far as Manchester is concerned, the first step will be to get the basic installation of the new FTTP service established. This will then be followed by attempts to expand the network to neighbouring areas. A rollout in the East Manchester area is expected to take place, followed by the establishment of a new Internet Hub in the Central Park District.

Comparing Branded and Non-Branded Printer Ink Cartridges

Friday, March 20th, 2009

Printer ink cartridges usually contain one or more partitions to reserve ink, besides a chip that communicates with the printer. The quality of printing by an inkjet printer largely depends on the smooth and continuous flow of ink. So, once the flow of ink slows down, it is to change the printer inkjet cartridges. Various types of inkjet printer ink cartridges are available including high priced printer inkjet cartridges manufactured by original equipment manufacturers as well as non-branded compatible or re manufactured printer inkjet cartridges.

Workings Of Printer Ink Cartridges

Most printers, including Canon and HP, use thermal inkjet while Epson use Piezoelectric Inkjets.
In thermal inkjet printer cartridges, each ink reservoir partition contains a heating element that responds to the signals provided by the printer when it warms up. This heating leads to the vaporization of ink surrounding the heating element into a tiny air bubble that moves to the nozzle. However, if if there is insufficient ink in the printer ink cartridges is less, the quality of printing will neither be . The ink in the printer inkjet cartridges also acts as a coolant for the heating elements .When it is too dry it can result in damage to the printer head.

In the case of Piezoelectric Inkjet printers, each nozzle contains a piezoelectric crystal and throws out ink for printing.

Types and Pricing Of Printer Ink cartridges

Although most printer manufacturers recommend inkjet printer cartridges manufactured by them, cheaper options are available on the market. Inkjet printer ink cartridges manufactured by OEMs are generally quite costly, so printer users prefer to use cheaper versions that are not only compatible with their printers but also provide good quality printing.

The cheaper inkjet printer cartridges are brand new products, with new components, and claim to provide the same quality as do OEM products. An alternativeoption available for printer users is the professionally re manufactured inkjet printer cartridges that have been used once, emptied, cleaned and refilled to match OEM standards.
